How RCMM can help

  • Understand what’s getting in the way

For something new, recurring or affecting how you move, train or take part.

  • Support around sport and training

Targeted Sports Therapy and hands-on treatment when a particular area or movement is giving you trouble.

  • Recovery and maintenance

Massage around demanding training, matches, events and competition when the aim is muscular comfort, recovery or simply feeling less worked-over.

When something starts getting in the way

It might be a hamstring that keeps making itself known when training gets heavier.

  • A shoulder that bothers you when you press.

  • A knee that starts playing up when your running increases.

  • You may be getting back to sport after time away, working around something that has not quite settled, or simply feeling the effects of a demanding week of training or competition.

  • You do not need to know exactly what you have injured before getting in touch.

Start with what is bothering you and what you need your body to do.

Sport and training look different for everyone

You do not need to compete at a high level to take what you do seriously.

Your activity matters

A rugby match asks something different of your body from a long run, a heavy lifting session or a fitness class.

That context helps.

Ross looks at what is bothering you alongside the movements and demands that matter for your sport or training. That can include what happened, what you are noticing now, what keeps bringing the problem up and what you are trying to get back to.

The aim is to make the next step clearer, not turn every ache into a bigger problem than it needs to be.

Sports Therapy with Ross Canning

Every Sports Therapy appointment at RC Muscle & Movement is with Ross Canning, Sports Therapist.

Ross starts with the person in front of him: what has happened, how things feel now, what you can currently do and what your sport or training normally asks of you.

Depending on what you need, that may involve relevant movement and function assessment, hands-on treatment, practical movement or exercise guidance, or a combination of these.

Ross works within Sports Therapy scope. If something needs medical investigation or support outside RCMM, he will explain that and point you towards a more appropriate route.

Recovery around training and competition

Not every visit starts with an injury.

A busy training block, a hard match, competition day or simply doing more than usual can leave you feeling sore, tired or worked-over.

Some people use massage around those periods because they enjoy the hands-on work and how they feel afterwards. Sports Massage offers the more targeted, activity-led route, while Deep Tissue can suit someone looking for firmer general maintenance and some time to switch off.

If something is repeatedly affecting what you can do rather than simply leaving you tired or sore, an assessment may make more sense.

When another route is better

RCMM supports musculoskeletal problems within Sports Therapy scope and does not provide medical diagnosis, imaging or emergency injury care.

If there has been significant trauma, you think something may be broken, you cannot use or bear weight through the area, or symptoms are severe or getting worse, appropriate NHS or urgent medical assessment should come first.
