Paula Canning
Operations, content and strength education at RC Muscle & Movement
I’m Paula, and I look after much of what happens around the hands-on treatment at RC Muscle & Movement.
If you have received an email from us, read one of our educational articles, seen a movement post or found something on the website that made an unfamiliar subject feel a little easier to understand, there is a good chance I was behind it.
Ross carries out the hands-on MSK therapy and sports massage. My role is to make sure the rest of your experience—from finding the right information to booking and preparing for an appointment—feels clear, welcoming and properly thought through.
I’m not the person diagnosing injuries or delivering MSK treatment. My role is to take the knowledge behind RC Muscle & Movement and turn it into clear, useful information people can actually understand and use. Where our content covers treatment, injury or MSK care, Ross reviews it before we publish it.
Why clear information matters to me
I have ADHD and dyslexia, so I know exactly what it feels like to be faced with a wall of complicated information that seems to have been written for somebody else.
I naturally look at information differently. I pull it apart, find the part that actually matters and rebuild it in a way that is easier to follow.
That shapes how we communicate at RC Muscle & Movement.
I don’t want people to feel that they need a degree in anatomy to understand their own body. I want our website, appointment information and educational content to give people enough context to ask useful questions and make informed decisions—without making movement sound frightening or unnecessarily complicated.
I work hard to make our communication, booking process and overall client experience as clear, encouraging and accommodating as possible.
The experience behind my role
My professional background brings together business management, digital marketing, education, personal training and nutrition.
Before running RC Muscle & Movement, I worked in schools and nurseries as an education support assistant and childcare professional. That included supporting children with different learning, communication and behavioural needs.
Between my own neurodivergence, my education work and life in a neurodivergent family, I understand how much small details can affect somebody’s experience.
Not everyone finds a new appointment, an unfamiliar environment or an online booking system straightforward. We can’t promise that every part of the clinic will work perfectly for every person, but we can listen, explain what to expect and make reasonable adjustments wherever possible.
That is why accessibility at RCMM isn’t just a label. It influences the words we use, the information we provide and the way we respond when somebody tells us they need something different.
Why strength is part of the conversation
I’m also a qualified personal trainer, qualified in nutrition and a competitive powerlifter.
I don’t currently offer a separate personal training or strength-coaching service through RC Muscle & Movement. My strength background instead helps shape our educational approach and our wider philosophy.
Strength doesn’t have to mean lifting the heaviest possible weight or living in a gym. It can mean feeling steadier on the stairs, being more confident carrying the shopping or having the physical capacity to keep doing the things you enjoy.
That is why we see strength as one useful part of long-term muscle and movement health—not a rule, a punishment or something reserved for athletes.

Outside RCMM
Away from the website and business side of RCMM, I’m a competitive powerlifter, gamer, coffee enthusiast and complete cat person.
Life with Ross, our teens and tweens is busy, funny and rarely tidy. It keeps my view of health grounded in real life, because most people aren’t building their routines around perfect sleep, endless free time and carefully prepared meals.
Neither are we.
I care about helping people understand their bodies without guilt, pressure or unrealistic expectations. Good information should help you feel more capable—not make you feel as though you are doing everything wrong.
